Concerned about your eyes? We can help.
Direct Vision provides clinical referral pathways for NHS and private patients. Whether a concern is identified during your eye test or you already have a condition you need seen — we'll make sure you get to the right specialist, fast.
NHS or private — the choice is yours.
If we identify a concern during your eye test — or if you already have a condition that needs specialist attention — we'll discuss your options with you before making any referral. Every patient, whether NHS or private, has the right to choose how they're seen. We'll explain both pathways clearly and support whichever route you choose.
NHS referral pathway.
For patients who wish to be seen through the NHS we refer through two routes:
For cataracts — we refer via Optegra, one of the UK's leading providers of NHS cataract surgery. We complete the referral on your behalf and advise you on what to expect.
For all other clinical concerns — glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration and other conditions identified during examination — we refer to the hospital eye service in the usual way.
We'll explain the process clearly and keep you informed at every step.
Private referral pathway.
For patients who prefer not to wait for NHS treatment, Direct Vision has established relationships with specialist ophthalmologists who can see you privately. The private pathway offers faster access, more choice of specialist and shorter waiting times.
We can refer privately for:
· Cataracts
· Glaucoma
· Diabetic eye disease
· Macular degeneration
· Any other condition identified during your examination
Ask us in practice or call to discuss your options — we'll help you find the right specialist for your needs and budget.
Have a concern? Let's talk.
Book an eye test or call us directly. If you already have a referral letter from your GP or hospital eye service, bring it with you and we'll advise on next steps.
