Myopia — or short sightedness — is a condition where distant objects appear blurry while close objects remain clear. It is increasingly common in children and typically worsens during school years as the eye continues to grow. Left unmanaged, myopia can progress rapidly — leading to higher prescriptions, thicker lenses and an increased risk of eye conditions in later life.

What is Zeiss MyoCare?

Zeiss MyoCare is a clinically proven spectacle lens designed specifically to slow the progression of myopia in children. Unlike standard lenses which simply correct vision, MyoCare lenses work to actively reduce the rate at which myopia worsens — helping to protect your child's long term eye health.
Direct Vision is one of very few practices in Birmingham offering Zeiss MyoCare. Our optometrist will assess your child's prescription history and advise whether MyoCare is suitable.
